5 Reasons To "Redesign" Your Home

What is Interior Redesign and why would you want it?

Interior Redesign is the unconventional approach to traditional design. By using the things in your home that you already own, a Professional Interior Redesigner can create a room that looks like it was designed by a "traditional" designer.

There are many benefits to having your home redesigned. Here are 5 of the most popular reason's to consider:

1. More Affordable. Redesign is appealing to a greater percentage of individuals strictly because it is more affordable than tradition Interior Design services.

2. One Day Service. The Interior Redesign process is generally a one-day service, which doesn't mean a huge time commitment from the homeowner.

3. Maximize Your Great Style. Professional Interior Redesigners have an uncanny ability to pull together all of the things that you love but never knew how to make work in your room.

3. Organization Matters. You would be amazed at how this one-day process can organize your room and alleviate a lot of stress in your world.

4. Home Blending. A wonderful solution for newly blended families. By incorporating different items important to each family, it is the perfect platform to create a new home that all will love.

5. Perfect Balance. Redesign provides a well-balance pallet of your furniture, artwork and accessories.

Curb Appeal - What is Your House Saying?

What is the outside of you house saying to potential buyers? Is it screaming "Buy Me?" Because the outside of your house is the first glimpse your buyers will see, and ultimately their first impression, you have to be sure that it is in tip top shape. No room for errors here. Ask yourself these questions:

Is the yard neatly kept?

Are the kid’s toys put away?

Is the lawn neatly edged, trees and bushes pruned?

Because the outside of the house is a good indication to potential buyers as to what they can expect on the inside, you need to pay close attention to these details.

Avoid:

Overgrown lawn, trees and bushes

Garbage cans being left out

Newspapers piling up

Toys being left out

Be smarter than your competition and make sure your curb appeal is appealing. Make those buyers want to stop their car and take a look inside.

Choosing The Right Trainer

It seems like every day there are more and more people offering Staging and Redesign Training. But how do you know what their credentials are? Just because they have a nice website and attractive business card doesn't mean that they have the practical experience or even necessary education to train others.

When you are looking for a course that offers credible training, there are a few questions to keep in mind:

How long has the instructor been training? How many students have they trained?

Do they have references that you can check?

Are they a certified trainer with an industry organization such as The Society of Deocorating Professionals?

What is their student to instructor ratio?

What affiliations and memberships do they hold?

Do they offer ongoing mentoring and continuing educational opportunities for their alumni?

What other benefits do they offer from their training course?

What makes them different from other training facilities?

It is important that you interview your prospective trainer and essential that you feel comfortable with the answers that they provide to you. You can find a list of certified trainers in Interior Redesign, Home Staging and Decorating at www.thesdp.com.

Choosing A Color That Sells

Preparing your home for the market is not always an easy task. So many components go into a successful sale and many which are overlooked.

Color is a key component in the overall influence of a room. It is the deciding factor of what tone a room will carry. Will it be warm and appealing to its guests, or cold and uninviting?

Choosing the perfect color can be a very overwhelming exerience for some. Because thousands of color chips (literally) are at our fingertips in many of the home improvement centers or large paint stores, it makes what would seem to be an easy process, quite confusing and often times stressful.

Color selection involves determining what is the best suited color to enhance the furnishing, artwork and accessories of the room. By choosing the right color, you will create the illusion of a perfect room and one that people would want to live in.

When preparing your home for the market, some say that staying neutral is the best way to go. Granted, you might have better results if you stay away from black ceilings and walls, but adding warm colors also adds value. People enjoy color!

Many certified Home Stagers offer color consultations, which is a service where they help you decide on what options would be best to meet the goals you have for the room. Even a select few of these individuals are certified in color theory and have a clear understanding of the color wheel and how to achieve optimal results.

Remember, when selling your home, it becomes a house. Detach yourself from personal preferences and dress it up for the prospective buyers. It will help lead to a fast and profitable sale!

Interior Redesign' Proving To Be Preferred Method Of Design

Staging and Redesign Academy, May 17, 2007 – When it comes to interior design, many homeowners shy away from hiring traditional Designers because of the time commitment and overall expense. Savvy homeowners have discovered that you can achieve a professionally designed room by implementing the “Use What You Have” theory. This untraditional approach to design is becoming a favorite amongst homeowners because it allows the use of existing belongings to be incorporated into the functional design of the room.

"Creating a comfortable space that is functional for the family is the most important element in Redesign" says Judy Pelinski, owner and training instructor of the Staging and Redesign Academy (www.stagingandredesignacademy.com).

"The redesign process is incredible simple," says Pelinski. "This one day-service is not only cost effective for most, but is also gives people a beautiful area in their home which they have always wanted.”

The Staging and Redesign Academy trains its students to provide customized services to their clients which will deliver results surpassing their expectations. Because each client has their own specific needs, the SRA feels strongly about developing their students both on the creative end and also on the business end.

"By enabling our students with practical experience in real homes, they are able to experience different challenges with the end result being the same," she says. "The homeowner can’t believe that their belongings could look so good ."

In addition to the cost savings aspect of Interior Redesign, the service also provides the homeowner with a functional area that was designed strictly for their lifestyle in mind. Taking into account who lives in the home, what the area is used for and the homeowner’s desire for the area.

"Everyone’s needs are different," says Pelinski, "you have to take into account what they client would like the room to be and design around that." She explains that the Redesigner acts as an objective party, taking into consideration all of the factors before implementing the redesign.

"It is so rewarding to see the positive reactions over and over," says Pelinski of her clients. "That is the reason I love my job. Knowing that I am providing a service that truly changes the way people feel about their home in a good way."

Love For Design Turns Into Second Career

"Having the passion and desire for interior decorating or design is a successful formula when it comes to becoming a Staging expert or Interior Redesign professional", said Judy Pelinski of the Staging and Redesign Academy. "Being able to provide a service that literally changes the way a person feels in their own home is really quite rewarding."

These two fields provide great opportunity for individuals who simply love to decorate and beautify living space and who also have a desire to let others experience the emotional rewards of a well designed room without the heavy price tag of a traditional Interior Designer.

Becoming a certified Interior Redesigner or Staging Expert is a very easy process. Judy pointed out that "you want to find an Instructor that has legitimate credentials. One that has been trained by professionals and has several years experiencing training others."

Although there are many who claim they are experienced, finding a trainer that is accredited through an highly recognized industry organization, like the Society of Decorating Professionals, is extremely important. Don't be fooled by copycat associations or self-proclaimed instructors. Investigate before you invest.

Summer Staging.... Tips For You To Sell Your House

A buyer's first impression of your house, more often than not, is the deciding factor on whether or not they will be interested in purchasing your home. You do not have a second chance here to make a positive, memorable impression, prompting interest and hopefully an offer.

In this real estate market, you need to stand out over your competition. Wow your prospects and create the illusion of the perfect house.

Tip #1

Pack away the collections
While you may cherish your Precious Moments, Longaberger Baskets and Lladros, they are distracting to the potential buyer. Let me ask you, are you selling those along with the house? No, I didn't think so. Although these collections are extremely important to you, your prospects are not emotionally attached and often times find them distracting. Let your buyers focus on what's important to them.

Tip #2

Update the light fixtures
This is a great, often inexpensive way to give your entire home a fresh and updated feel. There are many great home improvement stores where you can find wide selections of affordable fixtures that will enhance your house and attract a buyer!
